I was in my senior year of high school when that picture was made. We all got to choose a placement for our senior internship. I decided to spend my time at the local day care, surrounded by four-year-olds. Many decades later, I still haven't changed my mind.
When I'm not at school, I'm probably at home, surrounded by my family. That's my Daniel in my arms when he was Pre-K age. The guy on the other side is my husband, Dan. We got married in 2000. While I spend my days at Fulbright with the youngest students, Dan spends his at UALR with the oldest. We have the whole education spectrum covered.
This is my other son, Skipper. Daniel thinks I love Skipper more than him. I have no idea where he gets that idea.
We love to do things like hike and camp and swim. I grew up in New York, but The Natural State is the place for me.
When I first graduated high school, I got a degree in Culinary Arts. I love to cook and bake, and we'll do lots of that this year in Pre-K. Then I got my degree in Early Childhood Education and started teaching in 1999. A few years ago, I went back and got my Master's degree in Rhetoric and Writing. Maybe someday I'll put it all together and write a children's cookbook!
This is us now. Daniel went ahead and grew up, against my wishes. He's in college now, a theater major at UALR. Don't blink; your baby will be there before you know it.
